60 words to help you achieve deep relaxation

The power of words - that's why the pen is mightier than the sword

I suppose I would refer to myself as a dreamer - I love to relax and imagine what it would be like to win the lottery, explore an exotic place or spend an afternoon with Connie Nielsen but I realise that perhaps not all of you can drift off into your own little world as easily as I can, so I have tried to compile a list of useful words that may help you to improve your own state of relaxation..

Here goes:

warmth, sun, relax, peace, quiet, love, sea, happiness, love, bathe, holiday, sleep, laugh, enjoy, smile, excitement, open, honest, kind, gift, life, heavy, pleasant, waves, kindness, touch, heat, walk, patience, feel, sand, water, smell, breathe, sweet, body, free, breeze, stroke, healthy, light, mantra, kiss, ease, alive, intense, drink, appreciate, caress, warm, hear, dance, concentrate, uplifted, still, transformed, transported, down, slowly, drift

All done without the aid of a dictionary or thesaurus.

Now all you have to do is relax and imagine your own scene - one of my favourites is lying on a beach.

I lie down, relax and let the warmth of the sun caress my body. I can feel a warm breeze waft over me and hear the water lapping on the sand...

You get the idea. Wow - I'm there already! Think of your starting sentence, lie back and drift

Try it, enjoy it, let me know your techniques - best wishes - Max

I enjoyed reading this. All positive words. My scene will have to be a white beach in Seychelles....

Hi, I actually do do a mantra, before I go to sleep, but it is a Tibetan word, that I read in a book once! I have no idea what it means! they said it was best just to make the sound, and not know!, but I think I will give your words a try, it does make more sense!! thanks Nell

Thank you for your kind comments - I'm pleased that you both have some kind of relaxation methods - I also use a mantra - I have a very stressful job and sometimes at 4.00a.m. it's the only way to block things out. I found a beautiful cove in Menorca a couple of years ago. I think of that quite often as a start to my meditation.

Love to you both - Max
